The train journey from Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto to Sapporo
When we reached Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto station with the Hokkaido Shinkansen, it was necessary to transfer to the Super Hokuto, a limited express from JR Hokkaido.
It takes 3.5 hours to reach Sapporo station. If you have time, you should buy something at Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto station. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time, so we could only buy something to drink from a vending machine.

Onuma Dangos saved us from hunger
Because our Shinkansen’s departure time was very early, we would have almost died of hunger. But Onuma dangos saved us, they were sold in the on board food service. These mochi were very soft and tasted really good.
It was very sad to hear that these sales on board ended last year. ..
Now we recommend strongly, even if you have no time at Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto station to buy something to eat, you should buy something before riding this express train.

Good bye, Super Hokuto, but...
Did you know that the Super Hokuto is going to disappear in the middle of March 2020?
Don’t worry, the name is only going to change to “Hokuto”, without the “Super”.
Because of the time schedule revision, all express from JR Hokkaido whose names have “Super” in it, are going to be called Hokuto only without the “Super”.
